Netflix has acquired "Dumplin", a film about a plus-size teenage daughter of a former beauty queen who adores Dolly Parton and her music.
The film features collaborations and original music from Parton. The main character is named Willowdean, a reference to Parton’s real-life sister, Willadeene.
Dolly contributed newly recorded collaborations of some of her most popular songs, in addition to six new original compositions co-written by Dolly and Grammy nominee Linda Perry. The soundtrack will come out Nov. 30 on Dolly Records/RCA Nashville and features Parton performing with Sia, Miranda Lambert, Mavis Staples, Elle King, Alison Krauss and Rhonda Vincent, among others.
"Dumplin" stars Jennifer Aniston and Danielle Macdonald, both of whom appear with Parton on the soundtrack, as well as Dove Cameron, Odeya Rush and Harold Perrineau.
Netflix will air the film later this year, while the film will also be released in select theaters.
