Alabama singer Randy Owen was recently recognized by the Boy Scouts of America in his native Alabama.
Anniston, Alabama's local Boy Scouts chapter gave the "Mountain Music" singer the Heart of an Eagle Award to recognize the compassion he's shown for his community through leadership, character and integrity.
Owen's charity work for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is well known. He spearheaded St. Jude Country Cares for Kids, an annual radiothon fundraising event that has collected more than $800 million for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. In addition, Owen and Alabama played key roles in multiple disaster relief initiatives, including organizing and playing benefit concerts to support rebuilding efforts from catastrophic tornadoes that struck Tuscaloosa in 2011 and Jacksonville State University in March of 2018.
